Crypto.com CEO Buys AI.com Domain for Record $70 Million

In a landmark transaction that redefines the value of digital real estate, Kris Marszalek, CEO and founder of cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, has reportedly acquired the highly coveted “ai.com” domain for an astonishing $70 million. This monumental purchase, first reported by the Financial Times, shatters previous records for publicly disclosed domain sales and signals a bold move into the burgeoning artificial intelligence landscape.

The groundbreaking deal, facilitated by domain brokerage GetYourDomain.com, was finalized in April 2025 and notably settled entirely in cryptocurrency. This unprecedented $70 million valuation dwarfs the previous record holder, “Voice.com,” which was acquired by EOS developer Block.one for $30 million in 2019. Marszalek himself is no stranger to strategic domain investments, having secured “crypto.com” for $12 million in 2018, demonstrating a keen foresight for brand positioning in emerging tech sectors.

This colossal investment arrives amidst an unparalleled acceleration in the AI industry, characterized by a massive influx of capital and computing power. According to Gartner, global AI-related spending is projected to reach nearly $1.5 trillion in 2025. Further underscoring this trend, Bloomberg reports that the four major U.S. tech giants – Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft – are collectively planning to pour $650 billion into AI infrastructure this year alone, solidifying AI’s position as a central pillar of global capital allocation for the next decade.

For Kris Marszalek, the acquisition of “ai.com” is clearly more than just buying a website address; it’s a strategic maneuver to claim a pivotal entry point into the era of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

To this end, ai.com has simultaneously announced the launch of a new consumer platform centered around “Autonomous AI Agents.” These innovative AI agents stand apart from conventional conversational bots like ChatGPT. Designed for high-level execution, they are capable of directly representing users in practical tasks such as automating workflows, executing stock trades, and managing daily schedules.

Marszalek articulated his vision in a recent statement, declaring, “We are at a turning point in AI evolution, moving beyond mere ‘chatting’ to an era where AI can ‘get things done’ for humans. Our vision is to build a decentralized network of billions of agents that can learn autonomously and share evolutionary results.”

Super Bowl Debut Sparks Overwhelming Demand, Leading to Website Crash

To mark its grand debut, ai.com aired a 30-second television commercial during the highly anticipated Super Bowl LX (59th Super Bowl) golden prime time slot. The ad generated an astounding surge in traffic, overwhelming the servers and causing the website to go offline for several hours.

Marszalek candidly admitted on social media platform X on Monday that while his team had prepared with stress tests, the “insane level of traffic” far exceeded their expectations.

Earlier today (February 10, 2026), Marszalek further indicated that the official product rollout for users who signed up at ai.com would commence within 48 hours. Due to the massive queue of “hundreds of thousands” of interested individuals, the team plans a phased deployment strategy to ensure the infrastructure can adequately support the demand.
