SpaceX Executes Major Bitcoin Transfer Valued Over $105 Million, On-Chain Data Reveals
Elon Musk’s aerospace venture, SpaceX, has once again captured the crypto world’s attention with a substantial Bitcoin transfer. On-chain data reveals that early this morning (the 27th), the company moved over $105.4 million worth of BTC, marking its largest such transaction since late October and fueling widespread speculation within the digital asset community.
According to analytics firm Arkham Intelligence’s tracking, the transaction took place around 7:16 AM today. SpaceX transferred a total of 1,163 Bitcoins, distributing them across two newly created, untagged wallet addresses. Specifically, 399 BTC were sent to an address beginning with “bc1qh…galzy,” while the remaining 764 BTC were directed to “bc1q4…u54ez.” This move follows a previous notable transfer of 281 BTC on October 30th, indicating ongoing activity in their digital asset management strategy.
Despite this significant outflow, Arkham Intelligence estimates that SpaceX continues to hold approximately 6,095 Bitcoins. Based on a Bitcoin trading price of $90,937 at the time of calculation, these holdings are valued at an impressive $554 million.
What’s Behind the Move? Speculation and History
The precise motivations behind SpaceX’s latest Bitcoin transfer remain undisclosed. However, analysts are speculating that the company may be consolidating its digital assets, potentially moving them from older, less secure wallet infrastructures to more modern, robust custodial solutions. This strategic shift would align with best practices for managing large institutional crypto holdings.
It’s crucial to recall that SpaceX dramatically reduced its Bitcoin exposure in mid-2022, offloading roughly 70% of its holdings. Arkham’s data further confirms that the company has not acquired additional Bitcoin since that period, suggesting a consistent, cautious approach to its crypto portfolio.
Tesla’s Parallel: A Broader Corporate Strategy?
SpaceX isn’t the only Elon Musk-led entity to make headlines for its Bitcoin dealings. Tesla, another titan in Musk’s portfolio, similarly divested a substantial portion of its Bitcoin in 2022. As per Arkham’s records, Tesla currently maintains a holding of 11,509 Bitcoins, valued at approximately $1.05 billion, underscoring a broader, cautious approach to cryptocurrency holdings within Musk’s corporate empire.
These on-chain movements by SpaceX highlight the dynamic nature of institutional cryptocurrency management and continue to fuel discussion about corporate strategies in the evolving digital asset landscape.
